The McCulloch Medical Constant Delivery Resuscitators have been developed, tested and proven globally over 16 years for use with newborn animals in respiratory arrest or having difficulty breathing.
The Aspirator unit, marked 'A' with Mask 'A', helps clear the airway and draw mucus from the nose of patient prior to resuscitation. The Resuscitator unit, marked 'B' when fitted to Mask 'B', delivers a controlled, safe and repeatable tidal volume. Made from quality materials for superior product life.
Clean in 1:20 solution of bleach and water.

One person can operate the McCulloch Medical™ One Puff™ Aspirator/Resuscitator using a simple push/pull action. Valves at each end do all the work. On the wide end there are two, one-way induction valves. On the narrow end there is one, two-way valve.
Aspiration
-Place Aspirator unit "A" over the muzzle.
-One-way induction valves draw air in on the out-stroke.
-A vacuum is created when the unit is pumped to remove and mucus or fluids that may be blocking the airway.
-Tilt head back to open airway.
-One or two pumps will draw the mucus or fluids into the aspirator mask.
-If needed, follow resuscitation instructions.
Resuscitation
-Place Resuscitation Mask "B" over the muzzle.
-The one-way valve will induct air into the unit on the out-stroke and drive it down through the two-way valve into the lungs on the in-stroke.
-The two-way valve then opens and allows oxygen-depleted air to escape to the side and NOT reintroduce oxygen-depleted air.
-Breathing should be stimulated with as few as 1 or 2 pumps. Check for breathing every few pumps.
-If not breathing after 1-2 pumps, turn the puppy over and repeat. This will allow the lung previously closer to the ground and weighed-down by internal organs to inflate more easily.
-Continue while heartbeat remains.
The new resuscitator system, One Puff, introduced by McCulloch Medical™ provides the user and practitioner with a system used in aspirating and / or stimulating respiratory response in newborn puppies, kittens and other small companion animals.
One Puff fails to be a respirator, as the system enables the user to stimulate proprioceptive receptors of the patient to engage involuntary respirative efforts. By providing these fundamentals at a time of potential stress, One Puff enables the specific weakened newborn patient with a chance in sequencing its own internal cognitive physiological response thus inhaling and exhaling on its own behalf.
Users must be aware that any first aid and support must follow rules of best practice. Patients must be handled properly with passage ways cleared of any potential blockages around the nostrils and mouth area. The importance of stimulation is critical, i.e. massage the thorax area while initiating One Puffs pump / air flow into and around the nostrils or if necessary aspirating debris from the passage way with One Puffs aspiration pump and cone. The resulting efforts should cause the patient to inhale or exhale due to the subsequent stimulation.
One Puff should not be considered for continuous pumping, as the goal is for the patient's involuntary act of breathing to be initiated through stimulation of the respiratory response. (At times a patient due to prolonged lack of oxygen will shut down these involuntary responses and that is when a respirator along with intubation of the newborn must take place.)
The cone can be removed between pumps or left in place as the user can observe any air flow through the clear cone. Second and third pumps can be utilized in this critical time for respiratory engagement.
One Puff is a simple yet effective versatile system in managing newborn emergency situations. The adaptive cones are set up where a practitioner can also hook the cone directly to oxygen tanks.
